[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] DB HiTek announced on the 13th that its consolidated operating profit for the second quarter of this year increased by 6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 81.4 billion KRW, achieving the highest quarterly performance ever. Sales also recorded an all-time high of 274.7 billion KRW, up 13% from the same period last year.
For the first half of this year, sales amounted to 518.4 billion KRW and operating profit to 142 billion KRW. Sales increased by 11% compared to the same period last year. DB HiTek explained, "Sales of key products, centered on power semiconductors, have generally expanded," adding, "The OLED (organic light-emitting diode) driver chip developed under our own brand has officially entered the market, and the increase in sales from this has impacted our performance."
They added, "Since spring 2019, both fabs located in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, and Eumseong, Chungbuk, have been operating at full capacity for more than two years," and "As the semiconductor supply shortage continues and customer demand remains strong, we expect steady growth to continue for the time being."
DB HiTek has established a strategy to continuously maximize production capacity by rearranging production lines and supplementing bottleneck process equipment to effectively respond to increasing customer demand.
They also stated that, based on their world-class technology in the power semiconductor field, they plan to focus on developing next-generation semiconductor products while expanding high value-added new products such as wireless communication (RF) and specialized sensors to drive growth.
