[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Tour Development announced on the 9th that it sold 11,224 room packages for the 'Grand Hyatt Jeju' on Hyundai Home Shopping on the 8th. This surpassed the previous record of 10,024 rooms set on Hyundai Home Shopping in May.
The product sold this time focused on the demand for 'Neutkangseu (late hotel vacation)' and was designed to be used from September to November, including the Chuseok holiday. The selling price was 420,000 KRW per night based on weekends (Friday, Saturday) during the off-peak season.
Lotte Tour Development stated, "As the COVID-19 pandemic spread nationwide, there seems to have been a large demand for enjoying late vacations to avoid the summer peak season and COVID-19." It also evaluated that this reflects the fact that the new trend of resting by staying at luxury hotels, which are perceived as relatively safe in terms of hygiene and quarantine without traveling around after COVID-19, is taking hold.
According to the 'June COVID-19 Impact Analysis Report on Jeju Island Consumption' released by Jeju Tourism Organization on the 5th, visits to major tourist spots in the province mostly decreased, but the number of users at luxury hotels surged by 78% compared to 2019 before COVID-19.
Lotte Tour Development said, "Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort is a landmark itself with 1,600 all-suite concept rooms that offer panoramic views of Jeju city, the sea, and Hallasan through floor-to-ceiling windows," adding, "In addition to enjoying a gourmet journey at 14 restaurants staffed by global chefs, visitors can also savor Jeju’s nights at the 38th-floor pojangmacha and Lounge 38, maintaining steady demand."
They continued, "Grand Hyatt Jeju already obtained the 'GBAC STAR' certification conducted by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) at the end of last year," emphasizing, "Thorough quarantine management is in place to block COVID-19, including temperature checks at the hotel entrance and various facilities, QR code registration, and a two-pump hand sanitizer system."
