Hana Bank Launches 'Hana Ae(愛)nergy Saving Campaign'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hana Bank announced on the 9th that it will conduct the 'Hana Ae(愛)nergy Saving Campaign' to save energy during the summer season when electricity demand surges, in celebration of Energy Day on the 22nd of this month.

The campaign, running from the 10th to the 31st of this month, focuses on practicing 'Switching to Power Saving Mode,' one of the five actions in the year-round ‘Hana Green Step5 Campaign’ by Hana Financial Group (Switch to power saving mode, use personal cups, use stairs, avoid food waste, use public transportation).

Under the theme of ‘Good Habits to Protect the Earth,’ this campaign presents missions that anyone can easily participate in daily life. Employees will participate in energy saving and contribute to reducing carbon emissions by carrying out missions that can be easily practiced at work, such as ▲maintaining indoor temperature at 26~28℃ ▲turning off air conditioners 30 minutes before leaving work ▲turning off unused electronic devices ▲turning off unnecessary lights ▲wearing Cool Biz attire.

Additionally, Hana Financial Group plans to encourage voluntary participation from customers through its social networking service (SNS) channels. Customers who wish to participate in the campaign can post certification photos of their energy-saving missions on their own SNS (Instagram, Facebook) and share their personal energy-saving tips. There will also be an event where various gifts will be given through a lottery to participating customers.

Meanwhile, Hana Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in July for ‘Joint Promotion of Carbon Neutrality Based on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Financial Platform,’ jointly promoting activities to practice ESG management through energy saving and achieve carbon neutrality. Accordingly, from the 12th to the 20th, an ESG joint campaign titled ‘Turn Off the Lights, Turn On the Stars’ will be conducted through the Hana One Q mobile application in collaboration with KEPCO and the Energy Citizens’ Solidarity. Depending on the number of participating customers, summer supplies will be donated to vulnerable groups.

A Hana Bank ESG Planning Section official stated, “With steady and sincere ESG campaigns, employee participation and interest are continuously increasing,” and added, “We will actively collect and reflect various opinions from employees to further accelerate the practice of ESG management.”
