Government to Establish SW Development Security Hub in Pangyo... On-site Diagnosis Also Available

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The 'SW Development Security Hub,' which supports software development security for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has been opened.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 6th that the SW Development Security Hub has been established on the 4th floor of the Information Security Cluster at Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley. This is also part of the 'Ransomware Response Enhancement Plan' announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT at the 42nd Emergency Economic Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting.

Software development security is the foundation of software supply chain security, which has recently been exploited in cyberattacks. It refers to a series of security activities aimed at minimizing security vulnerabilities when developing or modifying software.

With the enforcement of the 'Software Promotion Act' on December 10th last year, a legal basis for supporting software development security for SMEs was established.

The SW Development Security Hub consists of spaces such as a security vulnerability diagnosis room, diagnosis verification room, and broadcasting studio. It provides services such as source code security vulnerability diagnosis, education, and hands-on experience for SMEs. Companies wishing to use the security vulnerability diagnosis service can apply online or by phone. Both on-site and off-site diagnosis are available.

Hong Jin-bae, Director of Information Security Network Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will strengthen the security of SMEs with weak security capabilities to establish a K-cyber defense system that allows citizens and companies to feel safe from the recent surge and evolution of ransomware and other cyberattacks."
