Seoul City Revamps Social Enterprise Shopping Mall 'Hamkkenuri Mall' with Product Comparison and Easy Payment Features Added

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the social economy enterprise exclusive shopping mall, ‘Hamkke Nuri Mall,’ which sells over 13,000 types of products and services produced by social economy enterprises, will undergo a full renovation and officially open on the 6th.

‘Hamkke Nuri Mall’ is an online shopping mall that gathers products and services from social economy enterprises such as social enterprises, village enterprises, and cooperatives in one place. Currently, 636 companies and over 13,000 products are listed. The products for sale range from office supplies, daily necessities, and handmade products to care services such as meal provision and nursing, cleaning services, and design.

This renovation focuses on expanding ‘accessibility’ and ‘convenience’ to help consumers easily search for products, quickly check information, and make convenient payments.

Seoul City first added a comparison function for similar products within the same category to help consumers make wise purchases. Up to 10 products can be compared at once, showing product specifications, prices, and certification fields of the selling companies all at once.

It also recommends products by company type, such as social enterprises, cooperatives, enterprises for the disabled, and fair trade. For individual members, bestsellers by category are suggested, while public institution members are offered products frequently purchased by other local governments. The city plans to add product recommendations based on members’ purchasing tendencies in the future.

Additionally, the complicated and cumbersome membership registration process has been simplified by adding a login function via SNS accounts (Naver, KakaoTalk, Facebook, etc.), enhancing mall accessibility. The payment system has also been improved. In addition to existing credit card and bank transfer payments, Zero Pay, issued to revitalize local commercial districts, has been added. Online payment with Seoul Love Gift Certificates will also be available in August.

Through this renewal of ‘Hamkke Nuri Mall,’ Seoul City plans to help consumers easily and conveniently purchase social economy enterprise products, leading to a substantial increase in sales for these enterprises. Various events and discount promotions will also be continuously held to support the revitalization of the mall and assist social economy enterprises struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Seoul City will produce and launch a separate online promotional page for social economy enterprises in the second half of the year, introducing not only excellent products and services but also the philosophy of the enterprises. The purpose of operating this promotional page is to help citizens easily understand the value and meaning of the social economy and to encourage interest in socially responsible consumption of social economy enterprise products.

Han Young-hee, Director of Labor, Fairness, and Coexistence Policy at Seoul City, said, “Starting with the renewal of Hamkke Nuri Mall, a representative shopping mall for a co-prosperous economy and socially responsible consumption, we plan to create ways for more consumers to easily find and conveniently purchase social economy enterprise products.” She added, “We expect that this support will not only lead to a substantial increase in sales for social economy enterprises but also help raise citizens’ awareness of the social economy.”
