[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Kim Yeon-koung (33, Shanghai, China), the flagship player of our women's volleyball team, is demonstrating her true value as the 'Volleyball Empress' at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

This is proven by the statistics. Up to the quarterfinal match against Turkey on the 4th, Kim Yeon-koung scored 115 points in 6 games, ranking 2nd in scoring. She recorded 102 points from attacks, 9 points from blocks, and 4 points from serves.

The top scorer, Tijana Bo?kovi? (Serbia), has 140 points (124 attack points, 10 block points, 6 serve points), leading Kim Yeon-koung by 25 points.

Third place Fernanda Rodrigues (Brazil) follows Kim Yeon-koung by 23 points with 92 points (83 attack points, 5 block points, 4 serve points).

In attack efficiency, Kim Yeon-koung ranks 5th with 35.02%. Rodrigues leads with 41.92%. Kim Yeon-koung is also ranked high in defense. She is 4th in digs (2.63 per set) and 8th in reception success rate (60.94%).

Bo?kovi? is not in the top 10 for defense. Rodrigues ranks 10th in digs (1.86 per set) and 6th in reception success rate (67.42%), showing versatile performance comparable to Kim Yeon-koung.

Attention is focused on the pride battle between Kim Yeon-koung and Rodrigues in the semifinals match between Korea and Brazil on the 6th.

The balanced performance of the national team players is also notable. Park Jeong-ah (28, Korea Expressway Corporation) ranks 8th in scoring (65 points), easing Kim Yeon-koung's attacking burden.

Especially, reception, which was considered a weak point at the Rio Olympics, has shown remarkable improvement. Park Jeong-ah ranks 9th with a reception success rate of 42.54%, following Kim Yeon-koung.

Kim Hee-jin (30, IBK Industrial Bank) is tied for 10th in scoring (63 points), and Yang Hyo-jin (32, Hyundai Engineering & Construction) ranks 7th in blocking (average 0.71 per set).

Starting setter Yeom Hye-seon (30, KGC Ginseng Corporation) ranks 3rd in sets (8.04 per set) and 5th in serves (0.29 per set). Libero Oh Ji-young (33, GS Caltex) is 2nd in digs (3.00 per set).
