Jangseong-gun Signs Ice Pack Reuse Business Agreement with Korea Environment Corporation

Jangseong-gun Signs Ice Pack Reuse Business Agreement with Korea Environment Corporation

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jeonnam Jangseong-gun (Governor Yoo Dooseok) announced on the 5th that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Environment Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Jeju Environmental Headquarters on the 3rd to promote the collection and reuse of ice packs.

This agreement was conducted in writing to comply with COVID-19 quarantine rules.

Due to the hot weather in summer and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the use of ice packs has increased, but many used ice packs are discarded without reuse, causing environmental pollution.

Through the agreement, the county and the Korea Environment Corporation plan to wash and sort discarded ice packs and provide them to small business owners.

The county will be responsible for collecting, transporting, and promoting to residents about the ice packs, while the Korea Environment Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Jeju Environmental Headquarters will support the production of collection boxes and the discovery of demand sources.

Governor Yoo Dooseok said, “The superabsorbent resin, which is the raw material of ice packs, takes more than 500 years to naturally decompose,” and added, “We will participate in environmental protection by recycling it together with the residents.”
