Jeong Eun-bo, Nominee for Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] Jeong Eun-bo, the nominee for Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, is recognized as a top domestic expert in economic, financial, and budgetary fields with excellent policy coordination skills. He is well-versed in both international and domestic finance and economic policies.

Born in 1961 in Cheongsong, Gyeongbuk, he graduated from Da-il High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration. He began his public service career by passing the 28th Administrative Examination in the finance and economy track as the top candidate. He served as Head of the Economic Analysis Division, Head of the Insurance System Division, Head of the Financial Policy Division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and as Director General (at the director level) of International Financial Policy at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. He has extensive experience in both macro and microeconomics and financial affairs, and from 2010 for three years, he served as Director General of Financial Policy and Secretary General at the Financial Services Commission.

While serving as Secretary General of the Financial Services Commission, he was dispatched to the 18th Presidential Transition Committee and was involved in financial policies of the Park Geun-hye administration. After returning to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance as Deputy Minister in April 2013, he led major economic policies for two years and nine months. Known for his gentle and mild personality, he is highly respected by Ministry of Strategy and Finance staff.
