[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 5th that the first move-in for the newlywed hope town will begin on the 9th at Pyeongtaek Godeok A-7 Block.

The Newlywed Hope Town is a public housing project specialized for newlywed couples optimized for childcare, promoted since July 2018 under the government’s ‘Newlywed and Youth Housing Support Plan.’ The structure randomly mixes sale housing and happy housing in the same building; happy housing residents can live for up to 6 years, or up to 10 years if they have children. The government plans to supply a total of 150,000 units of Newlywed Hope Town by 2025, including 100,000 sale units and 50,000 rental units. LH is responsible for 140,000 units and completed recruitment for 20,000 units by June.

Pyeongtaek Godeok A-7 Block, the first complex for Newlywed Hope Town move-in, consists of a total of 891 units, including 596 public sale units and 295 happy housing units.

Seojeong-ri Station on Subway Line 1 is within a 10-minute walk, and Jongdeok Elementary School is 5 minutes away. The parking lot is 100% underground, and natural-friendly community spaces such as a grass plaza and ecological pond are provided in the center of the complex. Seasonal storage spaces are installed in the basement of the residential buildings to increase storage capacity.

A comprehensive childcare center, including a national/public daycare center about twice the legal standard, a shared childcare space, and a community care center, is located in the center of the complex. There are four themed playgrounds: indoor playground, playground usable even when it rains, forest playground, and moist playground.

Smart systems have been applied, including an AI speaker that can control lighting and gas by voice, living room lights with adjustable brightness, a wall pad that monitors electricity usage, a smart ventilation system that automatically ventilates fine dust, 360-degree CCTV for safety, and room carpets to prevent noise between floors.

Newlywed Hope Town is available to newlywed couples who meet income and asset criteria (within 7 years of marriage or with children under 6 years old), prospective newlyweds, and single-parent families.

Public sale requires subscription to housing subscription savings (comprehensive housing subscription savings, subscription savings), with different income criteria depending on qualification. Happy housing requires income below 100% (120% for dual-income households) (6.24 million KRW for a 3-person household), total assets below 292 million KRW, and car value below 34.96 million KRW.

From this month to December, a total of 4,549 units (3,401 public sale units, 1,148 happy housing units) will be supplied in areas including Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town.

An LH official said, "Newlywed Hope Town creates an optimal childcare environment that only public housing can provide, such as national/public daycare centers and care services," adding, "Since there is high interest from newlywed couples, we will promote the prompt supply of the targeted quantity."
