'Watcha Popcorn' Containing Free Watcha Vouchers Sold Out 50,000 Units
Added 1-Year Pass (Golden Ticket) to Existing 3-Month, 1-Month, and 2-Week Free Passes
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] 'Watcha Popcorn' bundled with free Watcha vouchers has sold out, leading to the launch of 'Watcha Popcorn Season 2.'
Convenience store Emart24 announced on the 5th that it will release 55,000 limited units of 'Watcha Popcorn Season 2' in collaboration with the video streaming service Watcha on the 12th. The price remains the same at 2,000 KRW.
The newly introduced 'Watcha Popcorn Season 2' includes a 1-year free Watcha pass, known as the Golden Ticket. In addition to the existing random inclusion of one of the 'Watcha 3-month, 1-month, or 2-week premium free passes' in every Watcha Popcorn, the 1-year free pass has been added to enhance customer benefits. Customers can easily register by scanning the QR code printed on the coupon and enjoy premium pass benefits that allow simultaneous playback on four devices during the applicable period on Watcha.
New Watcha subscribers receive a 2-week free trial, and by combining this with the Watcha Popcorn coupon, new customers can enjoy at least one month of free use (if they win the 2-week free pass). Existing members can also use the coupon for free access during the coupon period.
Customers who purchased Season 1 products and used the coupon for free access can register the coupon again in Season 2 for additional free usage.
Emart24 has also added a mobile app event. Starting from the 13th, customers who purchase Watcha Popcorn Season 2 at Emart24 can access the Watcha free pass lottery event page via the coupon QR code and try their luck at winning a 1-year pass (5 tickets), 3-month pass (20 tickets), 1-month pass (50 tickets), or 2-week pass (300 tickets). The lottery scratch event on the app includes losing tickets, and free passes won in the app event can be used in addition to the coupons included in Watcha Popcorn Season 2. After the lottery scratch event ends on August 31, participants will be entered into a drawing to win an iPad Pro (12.9-inch 128GB, 1 winner).
Watcha Popcorn, launched on June 21, saw continuous orders from franchise stores, with all 50,000 units ordered within a week. The stocked Watcha Popcorn sold out within a month.
During the period Watcha Popcorn was sold, popcorn product sales increased by 36% compared to the same period last year. Emart24 analyzed that the differentiated product, which offers three flavors?caramel, cheese, and onion?in one container for 2,000 KRW along with a free Watcha pass, received strong customer response and boosted overall popcorn sales.
