Discussion on "Let's Definitely Revitalize the Gi (Energy)" in the Agricultural Distribution Sector

At the meeting held in the conference room of Bonghwa County Office, about 40 people including Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Bonghwa County Mayor Eom Tae-hang, and heads of local agricultural institutions and social organizations discussed under the theme of 'Let's surely revive the energy in Gyeongbuk's agricultural distribution sector.'
During the 'Time for Proposals and Responses on Livelihood Difficulties' chaired directly by Governor Lee, agricultural product processing, distribution, and sales companies facing difficulties in export reduction and securing sales channels due to COVID-19 raised their concerns.
Regarding the proposal to introduce an online auction system centered on shipping farms, Governor Lee promised that related organizations, including the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, will officially start the online auction business for agricultural and marine products from next year, and they will proactively expand auction items and quantities.
In response to the proposal to expand financial support projects for flower farmers, he replied that provincial funds will be provided to support facility construction and export activation for flower farmers to expand sales channels, and new projects will be expanded and implemented.
Regarding the proposal to install transshipment facilities to prevent the occurrence and spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza in densely populated layer chicken complexes, he responded that minimizing vehicle traffic within the complexes and fundamentally blocking and preventing risk factors is the best method, and support measures will be prepared.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo emphasized, "The agricultural product distribution sector also needs digitalization preparation and continuous research and development in all fields to prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era," adding, "Gyeongbuk Province will cooperate as one team with research institutes and universities to do its best in distribution innovation so that there is no worry about sales channels for agricultural products."
After the meeting, Governor Lee visited the drive-thru sales site at the Euneo Festival and the local food direct sales store, encouraging the officials while volunteering in direct sales activities.
