High Temperature Warning Issued for All Waters of Gyeongnam … "Full Efforts to Prevent Damage"

Water Temperature Distribution at 29~30℃, Over 5℃ Higher Than Last Year

High Temperature Warning Issued for All Waters of Gyeongnam … "Full Efforts to Prevent Damage" A high-temperature warning was issued for all waters of Gyeongnam as of the 4th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do announced that as of 2 PM on the 4th, a high water temperature warning has been issued for all marine areas within the province.

Six days after the high water temperature advisory was issued on the 29th of last month, it has been upgraded to a high water temperature warning.

Gyeongnam Province reported that due to continuous heatwaves, the water temperature in the province's marine areas is distributed between 29 to 30 degrees Celsius, which is more than 5 degrees higher than the same period last year.

Because of this, there are concerns about fishery damage such as the death of farmed fish.

To prevent damage from high water temperatures, the province provides real-time water temperature information for key management marine areas daily to fishermen through social networking services (SNS) operated by the province.

Additionally, to prevent damage to fish farms, 750 million KRW has been secured for high water temperature response projects, distributing 900 pieces of fishermen's response equipment such as oxygen generators and supplying immune boosters.

Baek Samjong, Director of the Marine Fisheries Bureau of Gyeongnam Province, said, "As a high water temperature warning has been issued for all marine areas in the province, there are concerns about damage to aquatic organisms, so it is necessary to share water temperature changes during the high temperature period and actively respond through public-private cooperation." He added, "Fishermen are urged to participate in protecting their farms by early harvesting, stopping feed supply, and supplying liquid oxygen to minimize damage to farmed fish."
