Sugong Advances Digitalization of Water Specialized Materials... "Will Convert 4,500 Cases by Year-End"

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Korea Water Resources Corporation announced on the 4th that it is promoting the 'Water Specialized Data and Important Records Digitization Project,' which converts water-related materials managed in non-digital formats into digital form.

This project targets approximately 7,300 non-digital materials managed by K-water. These include water specialized data and important records produced by K-water itself.

Previously, as the first phase, K-water digitized about 700,000 pages of its own reports, totaling around 2,800 documents, from May to the end of July this year in connection with youth job creation. Starting this month, through a follow-up service project, it plans to complete the digitization of about 1.7 million pages of 4,500 documents by December.

K-water plans to open the digitized materials to all citizens after information disclosure reviews and other procedures. These materials will be made available through the 'Water Book Platform,' scheduled to open in November, along with materials currently accessible on the website.

Kim Gap-sik, Executive Director of K-water's Management Division, said, "It will be possible to systematically manage the entire process of data creation, distribution, and storage," adding, "As Korea's representative water management institution, we expect to create shared value for water-related record heritage and enhance public utilization, thereby contributing to revitalizing the water industry ecosystem."
