Construction to Start in Second Half of Next Year, Move-in Targeted for 2024... Yeongwol-gun Collaborative Project

[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Gangwon Province is collaborating with Yeongwol County to promote a pilot project for the construction of 'Gangwon Province-style Public Rental Housing' to encourage young people to settle in the region.

Gangwon Province stated on the 4th, "We are currently holding a design competition for the construction of public rental housing. The design will be completed in the first half of next year, construction will begin in the second half, and the goal is to have residents move in by 2024."

The province plans to break away from the traditional image of rental housing by creating 'Gangwon Province-style Public Rental Housing' with differentiated layouts and designs that appeal to the younger generation, aiming to make it a regional landmark.

Notably, this project will be the first time that provincial funds are provided to support the construction of public housing led by Gangwon Province.

The province expects this initiative to encourage young people to settle locally by stabilizing their housing and to respond to the local extinction crisis caused by low birth rates and aging populations.

Additionally, the project aims to commercialize the name and image as a regional representative brand to increase recognition. Considering the effects of the pilot project, the plan is to gradually expand by constructing and supplying one complex per city or county.
