Reconstruction of Traffic Accident Analysis System
Easy Access for Children
Road Traffic Authority Collaborates with Police Agency and Ministry of Education
Establishing a Safe School Route Traffic Ecosystem
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] The Korea Road Traffic Authority announced on the 4th that it will strengthen traffic safety policies for school commutes in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the National Police Agency, and enhance school safety education by utilizing the 'Children Traffic Accident Analysis System (Children TAAS)'.
The Children TAAS web service is a restructured program of the existing Traffic Accident Analysis System (TAAS) designed to be easily accessible and usable by elementary school students. Using this, children can check what traffic accidents have occurred around their schools, identify dangerous areas themselves, create traffic safety maps, and learn about traffic safety during their commutes.
The Ministry of Education is promoting club activities called 'Making Safety Maps,' where students find and mark safety hazards inside and outside school and develop improvement plans, as well as a nationwide safe school contest open to all citizens.
In line with this, the Korea Road Traffic Authority plans to support safety education and creative experiential activities using Children TAAS and distribute explanatory materials such as card news and guides through the School Safety Information Center (www.schoolsafe.kr). Additionally, projects such as focused guidance on safe school routes using Children TAAS and support for operating child protection zones will also be promoted.
Shin Seungcheol, Head of Safety at the Korea Road Traffic Authority, said, "We hope that 'Children TAAS,' which helps children naturally acquire traffic safety awareness, will be actively utilized," and added, "The Authority will continue to strive in various projects to prevent traffic accidents during school commutes."
