Naju-si Completes 'Conflict Mediator Training' Successfully


[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) successfully completed the 'Conflict Mediator Training' conducted at the Public Interest Activity Support Center to realize a sustainable local community.


According to the city on the 3rd, this training focused on understanding various types of conflicts existing within the community and enhancing residents' ability to autonomously mediate conflicts by themselves.


The main contents included an introductory basic and advanced course such as 'Understanding Conflict and Listening Training,' 'Circle Process,' 'Theory and Practice of Restorative Justice,' and 'Conflict Mediation Practice.' In line with the COVID-19 trend, the training was held 12 times in total, with 6 sessions each over two months starting from June.


Among the 25 community activists and citizens interested in strengthening conflict mediation and communication skills, 20 completed the regular course.


So Young, head of the Public Interest Activity Support Center, said, "We plan to additionally conduct related policy development, network activity support, and education for resident organization so that residents can autonomously perform conflict mediation roles."
