[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Jeonju City announced on the 3rd that starting from the 27th of this month, it will promote various locations in Jeonju using 'Zepeto,' a global metaverse platform.
'Zepeto,' a leading domestic metaverse platform, is known as a playground for Generation Z (teens to twenties) who create avatars and enjoy social activities in virtual spaces.
Accordingly, Jeonju City is preparing the event 'Jeonju August Christmas,' which creates virtual spaces using tourist attractions such as Taejo-ro in Jeonju Hanok Village and Cheotmajung-gil in front of Jeonju Station, in collaboration with experts.
The 'Jeonju August Christmas' event can be participated in through the Instagram account 'Visit Jeonju.'
Through this, users will be able to explore Jeonju in the virtual space via avatars and plan future trips to Jeonju.
Jeonju City expects this metaverse-based promotion to be a pioneering marketing effort targeting the global Generation Z.
Kim Seung-su, Mayor of Jeonju, said, "This promotion using the metaverse is intended to showcase Jeonju as a tourism hub city to Generation Z worldwide in preparation for the post-COVID-19 era," adding, "We will strive to create various tourism contents that can attract the interest of foreign visitors."
