KT M Mobile Budget Phone Introduces 'Naver Certificate'

Expansion of Non-Face-to-Face Activation Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT M Mobile, the No. 1 MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) company in South Korea, announced on the 3rd that it will introduce the ‘Naver Certificate’ to its non-face-to-face MVNO activation service.

KT M Mobile has been promoting the introduction of the Naver Certificate since this year to enhance consumer satisfaction and strengthen the competitiveness of its non-face-to-face online activation service. This service was launched after receiving temporary approval for the ICT regulatory sandbox ‘Non-face-to-face Mobile Subscription Service’ from the Ministry of Science and ICT in June.

The Naver Certificate shortens the time required for identity verification and is more convenient to use compared to subscription methods using credit cards or public certificates. Users can issue the certificate by clicking on their profile image within the Naver application (app) in the ‘NA’ service, and identity verification can be done via password or biometric authentication during KT M Mobile’s online activation. It is expected to particularly alleviate inconveniences for students, soldiers, and others who have difficulty obtaining credit cards.

Jeon Seung-bae, Head of Business Operations at KT M Mobile, said, “Since the Naver Certificate is known as an authentication method that simultaneously secures simplicity and stability, we expect to provide subscribers with highly effective services,” adding, “We will continue to consider innovations in non-face-to-face telecommunication services that can increase consumer satisfaction in the future.”

Meanwhile, KT M Mobile is also running a dedicated promotion to commemorate the introduction of the new authentication service. New customers who subscribe to any of the 25 main plans using the Naver Certificate will receive 5,000 won in Naver Pay points.
