Samsung Neo QLED Obtains UK 'Carbon Reduction Certification'... "First Certification for 4K and Above TVs"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Neo QLED has been recognized for its carbon reduction efforts and received the ‘Carbon Footprint - Carbon Reduction Certification’ from Carbon Trust, Samsung Electronics announced on the 3rd.

Carbon Trust is a certification body established by the UK government to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Carbon Footprint certification evaluates the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire product lifecycle?from production, distribution, use, to disposal?based on international standards. The Carbon Reduction certification is awarded when carbon emissions are reduced compared to existing models of the same class.

Samsung Electronics explained that this is the first time a TV with a resolution of 4K or higher has received this certification. Samsung stated that it significantly reduced carbon emissions by ▲using eco-friendly materials to lower carbon emissions during incineration at disposal ▲optimizing the amount of materials used in component manufacturing ▲minimizing power consumption during product use.

Samsung Electronics plans to expand this certification to all Neo QLED models, lifestyle products, and commercial signage products in the future.

At ‘Samsung First Look 2021’ held in January, Samsung Electronics announced eco-friendly policies including ▲expanding products with eco-packaging ▲introducing eco-friendly remote controls equipped with solar panels ▲using recycled plastics. As part of this policy, starting in Korea, eco-friendly packaging using recycled EPS was introduced from the end of June.
