[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Our women's handball team has dramatically succeeded in advancing to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics.

The team led by coach Kang Jae-won drew 31-31 against Angola in the final 5th match of the women's Group A league held on the 2nd at Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

With 1 win, 1 draw, and 3 losses, and 3 points, South Korea secured a quarterfinal ticket as Japan, competing for 4th place in the group in the following match, lost to Norway 25-37. Angola had the same points as us, but we were ahead in goal difference (-18) compared to Angola (-26).

This is the first time in 9 years since the 2012 London Olympics that our women's handball team has reached the quarterfinals. From the quarterfinals, the team aims to improve the performance that was poor in the group league and challenge for a medal, which has been absent since the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

First, we must overcome Sweden. Sweden, ranked 1st in Group B, advanced to the quarterfinals and will face us. The match will take place on the 4th at 5 PM.
