Daesang Award to Mokpo Fire Station · Grand Prize to Gwangyang Fire Station Honors
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 2nd that it won the Grand Prize and the Excellence Award at the "Our Own On-Site Response Techniques Contest" hosted by the National Fire Service Research Institute.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Mokpo Fire Station for the theme "Safety Equipment for Ambulance Drivers to Prevent Falls," and the Excellence Award went to Gwangyang Fire Station for the theme "Water Spray Technique Using Relay Valves and Power Fire Pumps in Situations Where P.T.O Operation is Not Possible."
This contest was organized to discover and share unique techniques used in on-site responses that are not included in manuals, aiming to enhance the on-site response capabilities of firefighters.
The videos were produced within 5 minutes and included techniques, equipment, and systems developed, transmitted, and utilized in all 119 on-site response fields such as fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, disaster response, and daily safety.
The contest was held nationwide for fire department officials from April to May 14, lasting 44 days.
A total of 35 videos were submitted, and through the first internal committee evaluation and the second YouTube channel review, the Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Merit Award, and Special Award were announced.
The awards were delivered to the respective fire stations in consideration of COVID-19, with team leaders receiving the Commissioner of the Fire Department Award and team members receiving the Fire Service Research Institute Award.
Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, "We will do our best to develop various on-site response techniques and share them across all fire stations to provide better safety services to the residents."
