Hwasun-gun Conducts COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing at Foreign Employee Workplaces

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) is making every effort to block the regional spread of the 4th wave by expanding the mandatory COVID-19 diagnostic testing targets.

The county announced on the 2nd that it will conduct COVID-19 diagnostic tests targeting workplaces employing foreign workers in the region.

Jeollanam-do issued an administrative order for diagnostic testing of foreign worker employment sites and coastal fishing vessels before departure on the 31st of last month, as a preemptive response to the spread of cluster infections among foreign workers in Naju, Mokpo, Wando, and other areas within the province.

Following the issuance of the administrative order, the county will implement strengthened quarantine measures such as exempting unregistered foreigners from reporting their stay when undergoing diagnostic testing, and enhancing quarantine management of facilities and workplaces densely populated by foreigners.

Additionally, the county will take proactive preemptive measures by recommending diagnostic testing for academies, private institutes, and indoor sports facilities.

Considering the COVID-19 epidemic trends, foreign workers, international students, instructors at academies and private institutes, and employees at sports facilities have been included as voluntary vaccination targets.

As of the 31st of last month, 34,816 people, accounting for 55.7% of the county's total population, have completed their first vaccination dose.

A county official stated, “We will preemptively block regional spread through proactive and aggressive quarantine measures,” and added, “We ask for active cooperation in conducting diagnostic tests and complying with quarantine rules regardless of nationality.”
