Korea GM, 19,215 Units Sold in July... 44.5% Decrease YoY

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Korea GM announced on the 2nd that it sold a total of 19,215 units last month, including 4,886 units domestically and 14,329 units for export.

Korea GM's domestic and export sales last month decreased by 30.1% and 48.2%, respectively, compared to July of last year. Korea GM explained that the decline in domestic and overseas sales was due to the semiconductor supply shortage.

Domestically, the Chevrolet Trailblazer led the performance with a total of 1,991 units sold. The Chevrolet Spark followed with 1,571 units sold in the domestic market. The pickup truck Chevrolet Colorado recorded sales of 548 units, an increase of 48.5% compared to the same month last year.

For exports, the Chevrolet Trailblazer, along with its sibling model the Buick Encore GX, sold a total of 11,484 units. The Trailblazer was recognized for its product quality and cost-effectiveness both domestically and internationally, ranking as the top domestic finished car export model in June of this year.

Caesar Toledo, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Marketing at Korea GM, stated, "Despite the resurgence of COVID-19, domestic customers' interest in RV vehicles such as the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Colorado remains strong," adding, "In the second half of the year, we will strive to deliver Chevrolet's products and brand value to customers through a more diverse vehicle lineup and aggressive marketing activities."
