NHN "Growing into a Global Company by 2030... Spinning Off Cloud Division"


[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] On the 2nd, NHN held the 'Vision 10 (VISION 10)' event online to commemorate its 8th anniversary and announced its goal to grow into a global top-tier tech company by 2030.


With the core value of 'Technology that creates today, technology that breathes with people,' NHN aspires to provide IT services infused with NHN's DNA to people worldwide.


Founded in 2013, NHN has transformed into a comprehensive ICT company by pioneering new businesses and establishing four core business areas: technology, commerce, content, and payment.


The technology business will focus on strengthening domestic competitiveness and expanding global operations centered on cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), data, and collaboration solutions.


NHN Cloud plans to spin off as a specialized cloud company in 2022 and pursue an initial public offering (IPO).


The AI business aims to enhance accessibility for small and medium-sized enterprises by launching an AI platform, expanding the growing AI cloud campaign business, and collaborating with NHN DAIQUEST, the nation's leading natural language processing (NLP) specialist company.


The data business will combine the global network capabilities of European data solution company 'Newdeep' with its data integration platform, Daitti.


NHN Doorey, which launched as an independent corporation last month, presented a vision to grow into a global Software as a Service (SaaS) company beyond collaboration solutions in the long term by targeting the public collaboration tool market and implementing a flexible external platform integration strategy.


The commerce business will be driven by NHN Commerce, which announced plans for an IPO in 2023. After establishing itself as an essential gateway for domestic sellers entering the Chinese market, it aims to grow into an Asian e-commerce tech leader centered on the Korea-China-Japan hub through cooperation with its Japanese commerce corporation.


The gaming business plans to rebuild the reputation of the web board powerhouse 'Hangame,' strengthen competitiveness through securing global intellectual property (IP), discover new projects, and increase success potential through investments. NHN Comico, the webtoon platform, will compete with differentiated content.


NHN plans to stand shoulder to shoulder with global companies by leveraging its global bases and IT technology competitiveness secured through active investments in Asian markets such as Japan, China, Southeast Asia, as well as North America and Europe over the next decade.


Jung Woo-jin, CEO of NHN, said, "The upcoming leap period aims to lead the company's growth with new driving forces," adding, "Every year during the anniversary season, we will solicit new ideas and nurture selected projects as in-house ventures to foster a creative corporate culture." He also urged employees, saying, "Let us create and practice NHN's unique technological DNA centered on NHN's core value of 'technology that creates today, people and technology.'"
