[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Geoje City in Gyeongnam has conducted a survey on barrier-free tourism courses to create an open tourist destination and produced the 'Barrier-Free Geoje Tourism Guide Map' as a result.
According to the city on the 2nd, this map production was carried out to establish a foundation for barrier-free tourism that everyone can enjoy without discrimination, not only for vulnerable tourists such as people with disabilities, the elderly, infants and young children, and pregnant women who have limited access to tourism information.
The survey was conducted based on consultations and cooperation from disability-related organizations such as the Gyeongnam Association of the Physically Disabled Geoje Branch and the Geoje Disabled Convenience Improvement Technology Support Center, focusing on tourist sites throughout Geoje City.
The barrier-free guide map provides information on 40 tourist sites including Geoje Botanical Garden, as well as nearby accommodations and restaurants, along with accessibility pictograms. It also includes recommended courses for 1 night 2 days and 2 nights 3 days, allowing for customized services without discrimination.
Tourist information will also be included in the Geoje Disabled Convenience Facility Information application 'HamkkeAII Geoje'.
A Geoje City official said, "We will promptly improve the facility deficiencies revealed during the barrier-free tourism course survey," and added, "We want to continue producing maps filled with abundant data to gift a Geoje trip full of excitement that is open to everyone."
