Suncheon-si 'Direct Democracy Hub City' Catchphrase Contest

Submission deadline until the 25th, total prize of 1.2 million KRW awarded to 6 final winners

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 2nd that it will hold a contest for a catchphrase (slogan) until the 25th to promote the status of "Suncheon, the City at the Center of Direct Democracy," which leads city administration through citizen communication and participation as a key policy project of the 7th elected government.

This contest is intended to create a promotional phrase that anyone can easily and familiarly associate with "Suncheon, the City at the Center of Direct Democracy," and anyone interested in branding the city's image can participate.

To apply, download the form from the city’s homepage and write a phrase within 20 characters that includes the values of direct democracy in daily life, citizens' rights and duties, and the importance of citizen participation in city administration, then submit it by mail or email to the City Citizenship Division.

The submitted catchphrases will undergo internal review and a citizen preference survey, and then the final selection will be comprehensively evaluated for suitability, friendliness, and communicability by the Suncheon City Citizenship Committee. The winning entries will be announced on the city’s homepage on the 14th of next month.

Prizes will be awarded to one grand prize winner (500,000 KRW), two excellence prize winners (200,000 KRW each), and three encouragement prize winners (100,000 KRW each), totaling gift certificates worth 1,200,000 KRW.

Meanwhile, the selected catchphrases will be posted on the city’s homepage and used as promotional phrases for various promotional materials, souvenirs, and events.

A city official said, “During the 7th elected government of Suncheon City, we have led policy implementation closely connected to daily life through diverse citizen participation and communication,” and added, “Through this catchphrase contest, we ask for much interest and participation so that the image of ‘Suncheon, the City at the Center of Direct Democracy’ can be widely promoted and firmly established.”
