[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyeok] The Community Security Council of Seji-myeon, Naju-si, Jeollanam-do (co-chairmen Lee Kyung-sik and Jo Chang-su) and KEPCO KPS (President Kim Hong-yeon) are carrying out a win-win cooperation project for elderly people suffering from knee osteoarthritis, gaining positive responses from the local community.
According to Seji-myeon on the 2nd, the two organizations recently promoted the ‘Walking Helper Elderly Spring Knee Brace Sharing’ project as part of win-win cooperation between the local community and public institutions.
The two organizations selected 70 households of elderly people aged 65 or older who have difficulty moving due to degenerative arthritis, the number one chronic disease among the elderly, and delivered spring knee braces.
This sharing project was realized as the Seji-myeon Community Security Council proposed social contribution activities for the underprivileged in welfare blind spots, and KEPCO KPS purchased and donated 140 knee braces (worth 5.3 million KRW).
Unlike ordinary knee braces, these knee braces have built-in silicone springs that help ligaments and disperse shocks that can be caused by load, which is an advantage.
It is expected to help relieve knee pain and support a lively old age life for elderly people with difficulty moving.
Chairman Jo Chang-su said, “Thanks to the active cooperation of KEPCO KPS, we were able to provide great help to elderly people suffering from knee osteoarthritis,” and added, “We will continue to take the lead in practicing customized welfare to realize a livable Seji-myeon community.”
Seji-myeon Chief Lee Kyung-sik said, “I am grateful for the warm hearts of KEPCO KPS employees who have consistently promoted win-win cooperation with not only Seji-myeon but also the local community,” and added, “I hope this will be an opportunity to revitalize the sharing culture that has been shrinking due to COVID-19.”
