LINC+ Project Group and Korean Institute of Information and Communication Sciences Conclude '2021 Artificial Intelligence and Applications Workshop'

Shilla University, co-hosted with the Korea Information and Communication Society, held a workshop that was actively conducted with heated discussions among developers and sharing of research outcomes.
Shilla University LINC+ Project Group’s Department of AI Creative Convergence Talent Development announced on the 2nd that it held the ‘2021 Artificial Intelligence and Application Workshop’ on the 22nd.
This workshop was organized to introduce various AI technologies by AI experts and to suggest new research directions through sharing AI development achievements.
The workshop, held via a real-time video system, began with a lecture titled ‘AI-based Medical Imaging and Information Analysis’ by Professor Kim Kwang-baek of Shilla University’s Department of Artificial Intelligence.
Following this was a keynote lecture by Professor Kwon Hee-chun from Caroline University in the United States on the topic ‘A.I DRONE For the Future MICHIGAN Project,’ and a session where university students nationwide presented and shared AI application achievements.
At the end of the event, during the ‘Discussion on the Current Status of AI Technology in the Busan Area and Technical Challenges of Companies,’ heated discussions continued among university professors, major students, and AI-related developers from companies.
Lee Beom-jin, head of Shilla University’s LINC+ Project Group, said, “We are living in an era of rapid change due to the advancement of AI and big data processing technologies,” adding, “We will produce competitive AI practical talents through continuous research and sharing of AI technology and knowledge.”
Shilla University’s Department of AI Creative Convergence Talent Development was selected as one of the eight universities for the Ministry of Education’s ‘4th Industrial Revolution Innovation Leading University New Project’ in 2019.
In 2021, the university established the Department of Artificial Intelligence and attempted to specialize in AI and build infrastructure, achieving the highest employment performance for two consecutive years among majors affiliated with the LINC+ Project Group.
