[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 2nd that it will completely suspend the operation of indoor and outdoor public sports facilities from the 31st of last month until the 8th of this month.
This measure was taken to ensure the safety of citizens as the spread of COVID-19 has not subsided despite the social distancing level being raised to Level 4.
Not only indoor sports facilities but also outdoor sports facilities such as soccer fields, jokgu courts, tennis courts, and gateball courts are all included.
The city explained that this unavoidable measure was taken because the maximum temperature on the 1st exceeded 33℃, and due to the intense nature of outdoor sports, wearing masks at all times is difficult.
A Gimhae City official said, "We will strengthen management and supervision of sports facilities in the area until the local infection trend subsides," and added, "We plan to decide on reopening based on the trend of COVID-19 infections in the local community."
