Gyeongbuk Sangju Moseo-myeon Community Security Council, Gifted Side Dishes to 10 Vulnerable Households
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Passing through a village trapped in a heatwave, I arrived at an elder's house. Although drenched in sweat, I endured because great joy awaited.
On the 30th of last month, neighbors brought such happiness to 10 households in Moseo-myeon, Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk.
On that day, members of the Moseo-myeon Community Security Council selected 10 vulnerable households and held a side dish support event.
Sangju City is leading a specialized project to provide side dishes to vulnerable groups.
Participants visited elderly living alone and low-income families who have difficulty preparing meals alone due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, checking their health amid the heatwave while delivering side dishes.
One elder said, "It's very hot, and when I'm alone, it's not easy to properly prepare side dishes to eat, so I am truly grateful that they brought them directly and even asked about my well-being."
Yoon Young-dae, head of Moseo-myeon, said, "I appreciate the Community Security Council members for prioritizing neighbors in need and stepping forward, and we will strive to build a tight welfare safety net so that elders do not feel neglected."
