[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Parnas Hotel, which owns and operates the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas and InterContinental Seoul COEX, announced on the 2nd that it will support 1,000 kg of rice for low-income families who are easily marginalized due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and provide iced Americanos every week for 7 weeks starting July 28 to the medical staff at the Samsung Station screening clinic who are working hard on COVID-19 prevention amid record-breaking heatwaves.

Parnas Hotel stated that it delivered 1,000 kg of Haenaru rice, a specialty product from Dangjin, Chungnam, which is currently used in the hotel restaurants, to the Food Bank Market in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 28th of last month. It will be distributed to low-income families in the future. To help the medical staff at the Samsung Station screening clinic who are exhausted from the heat, the hotel plans to provide iced Americanos from the Grand Deli every week starting from the 28th of last month so they can enjoy a cooler break.

Kwon Ik-beom, CEO of Parnas Hotel, said, "Although the hotel has been experiencing the most difficult situation since its opening due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation since early last year, we plan to continue our annual sharing activities for vulnerable groups in the local community and social responsibility activities through win-win cooperation with support organizations in Gangnam-gu this year as well." He added, "All hotel staff will also do their best in their respective positions to comply with quarantine rules and end COVID-19 so that the efforts of the medical staff and quarantine authorities will not be in vain."

Meanwhile, Parnas Hotel received a '2021 Warm Winter Supporter' certificate of appreciation from Gangnam-gu Office in May. Earlier this year, it delivered 100 sets of 'Love Bread' to the Disease Control Department staff at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center who are working on the front lines of quarantine, and on Disability Day in April, it provided necessary supplies and hotel meals to Yedam, a social welfare corporation and rehabilitation facility for people with severe disabilities. In May, the hotel visited Dalma School, a local children's facility for children from single-parent families established by Bongeunsa Temple, and delivered 100 sets of hotel snacks and handmade I-Bear dolls to the children. In the second half of the year, it plans to continue activities such as sharing kimchi annually and fundraising through hotel charity events.

Parnas Hotel stated, "This year as well, as a hotel fulfilling its social responsibility, we plan to continuously carry out CSR activities through coexistence with neighbors, local communities, and social welfare organizations to practice 'sustainable luxury.'"
