SKT Reflects on Liberation Meaning with V Coloring... Provides 5 New Contents

[Asia Economy Reporter Seolgina Jo] SK Telecom announced that it will provide a total of five V Coloring contents, co-planned and produced with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Independence Hall of Korea, starting from August 2, in celebration of Liberation Month in August.

V Coloring is a ‘video coloring’ service that shows a pre-set video to the caller until the call is connected. It is available to customers of all three major mobile carriers. The V Coloring app offers over 5,000 free and paid videos, and users can also use content they have filmed or downloaded on their smartphones. As of the end of July, V Coloring has 1.6 million subscribers, with a cumulative content view count of 280 million.

Among the five V Coloring videos introduced this time, the “Provisional Government Building of the Republic of Korea in China” edition contains content aimed at encouraging national interest and participation in the preservation and management of overseas independence movement historic sites imbued with the Korean people's will for independence. The “Long Live Korean Independence: Conveying the Meaning of Liberation” edition captures the images of independence activists who earnestly wished for Korea’s complete sovereignty, allowing viewers to reflect once again on the preciousness of the freedom and sovereignty enjoyed by our country today. Additionally, there are V Coloring contents featuring famous quotes from Kim Gu and Yu Gwan-sun, as well as illustrations related to the independence movement.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has prepared two rounds of events to promote the spread of V Coloring content.

First, from August 15 to 28, over two weeks, 150 participants who set at least one of the five V Coloring videos as their personal coloring and verify it will be selected by lottery to receive a travel suitcase (one type) engraved with the Ministry’s independence movement historic site character. The second event runs from August 29 to November 30, during which participants who visit overseas independence movement historic sites (such as in the United States, Japan, China) and upload and verify V Coloring videos they personally created (including old photos or videos) will be entered into a lottery to win one set (two types) of character travel suitcases for 150 people. Participation is possible through the internal banner of the V Coloring app.

SK Telecom plans to continue producing follow-up V Coloring content through ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the Independence Hall of Korea, including editions on U.S. independence movement historic sites, Japanese historic sites, and domestic sites following the Provisional Government Building edition in China.

Sojeong Choi, Head of Subscription Media at SK Telecom, said, “We are pleased to participate in this meaningful campaign utilizing SK Telecom’s ICT capabilities in the 5G era,” adding, “Just as we have introduced content such as ‘social distancing’ to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ‘Jupging (picking up trash + jogging)’ for environmental protection, we will continue to discover various ESG-level campaigns using V Coloring.”
