Gyeongju City Opens 'Tourism MICE Development Center' as a Hub for Tourism Innovation

Customized Consulting and Promotion Support for Local Tourism and MICE Companies

Gyeongju City Opens 'Tourism MICE Development Center' as a Hub for Tourism Innovation The opening ceremony of the 'Gyeongju Tourism MICE Promotion Center' held on July 29.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gyeongju City announced on the 1st that it has opened the 'Gyeongju Tourism MICE Development Center' on the B1 floor of the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center (HICO).


The newly established center was promoted following the selection of the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Bureau as the 'Regional Tourism Promotion Organization (DMO) Project Operator' hosted and organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.


The center, designed with an area of 51㎡, is equipped with ▲a meeting room ▲a community lounge with a rest area ▲an OA zone. The operation is managed by the Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Bureau.


The center supports customized consulting, promotional marketing, and education for talent development targeting local tourism and MICE companies, including startups. It also operates a Smart Safe Travel Promotion Hall to promote a safe travel culture in preparation for the 'post-COVID-19 era.' All programs are operated free of charge. Kim Yong-guk, President of HICO, stated, "Through the opening of the Gyeongju Tourism MICE Development Center, we will strive to strengthen the organizational system and expand membership of the Gyeongju Tourism MICE Alliance, enhancing its self-sustainability and enabling it to grow into a regional tourism platform that leads tourist attraction."


Meanwhile, the center's opening ceremony was held on the 29th of last month with a minimal number of attendees, including HICO President Kim Yong-guk, Gyeongju City Council member Donghyeop Lee, Choi Hyung-dae, Director of Gyeongju City Culture and Tourism Bureau, and executives of the Gyeongju Tourism MICE Alliance, to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
