[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] "I've waited for three years."
This is the 'resurrection shot' of Oh Ji-hyun (25, KB Financial Group). On the final day of the KLPGA Tour Jeju Samdasoo Masters (total prize money 900 million KRW), held at Urideul Golf Club in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island (par 72, 6,506 yards) on the 1st, she posted a 4-under-par round to secure a commanding 3-stroke victory (17-under-par 271). It is interesting to note that she had not won since this tournament in August 2018. This marks her 7th career win, and with the winner's prize of 162 million KRW, she jumped to 6th place in the prize money rankings (278 million KRW).
On that day, Oh Ji-hyun reduced her score by one stroke over the remaining four holes of the third round to take a 3-stroke lead, then fired another 4-under-par in the fourth round. Although she had a bogey on the 1st hole (par 5), she recovered with a birdie on the 3rd hole (par 4), then sealed the victory with two pairs of consecutive birdies on the back nine at holes 11-12 and 16-17. Above all, her pinpoint iron shots, missing the green only once, stood out. She expressed her fighting spirit, saying, "Now that I've broken the winning drought, I want to secure my second win as soon as possible."
Top rookie Hong Jeong-min (19) finished in 2nd place (14-under-par 274). She is a player who demonstrated incredible power by winning three consecutive tournaments on the Jump (3rd tier) Tour last July. She advanced to the Dream (2nd tier) Tour in August and immediately ranked 16th in prize money, earning her KLPGA Tour card for the 2021 season. Six-time champion Park Min-ji (23, NH Investment & Securities) settled for a tie for 3rd place (12-under-par 276). Choi Hye-jin (22, Lotte) joined the tie for 3rd place, powered by a 7-under-par daily best finish.
