[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province announced on the 1st that one specialized lab and two general labs in Gangwon Province were selected for the 2021 'Maker Space Establishment and Operation' project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
'Maker Space' means a creative space where consumers can instantly create desired objects using 3D model files and various materials, earning it the nickname 'smokeless manufacturing industry.'

Specialized labs will receive up to 2.7 billion KRW over three years, and general labs will receive up to 330 million KRW over three years, with differential support possible each year based on operational performance evaluations.
Park Kwang-yong, Director of the Economic Promotion Bureau of Gangwon Province, stated, "To popularize startups and promote manufacturing startups, we will support the establishment of a close cooperation system between general and specialized labs to realize the creation of a startup cluster in Gangwon Province."
