[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Kim Hyun-ah, the nominee for SH President, has ultimately announced her intention to resign.

On the 1st, around 12:28 PM, Kim posted on her Facebook, "I am withdrawing from the SH President nominee position. I apologize to all the citizens who supported and criticized me."

Kim was nominated as the SH President candidate by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and underwent a confirmation hearing at the Seoul Metropolitan Council on the 27th of last month. However, it was revealed that she owns four real estate properties, including two apartments in Seoul and Busan, a commercial building, and an officetel. She sparked controversy by referring to this as a "benefit of the times."

In particular, the Seoul Metropolitan Council's SH President Nominee Confirmation Special Committee (Chairman No Sik-rae) concluded on the 28th that Kim was "unqualified."

Additionally, civic groups and Hong Joon-pyo, the presidential candidate from the People Power Party, also argued that "a multi-homeowner becoming SH President is inappropriate," urging her to resign. Facing mounting pressure, it appears that Kim ultimately expressed her intention to resign to Mayor Oh on this day.
