"Be Careful at Night"…50s Man Fined 7 Million Won for Threatening Public Official One Day After Release Daegu District Court.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A man in his 50s who threatened a public official by saying "Be careful on the night road" just one day after being released from prison was sentenced to a fine of 7 million won.

On the 30th, the Daegu District Court Criminal Division 10 (Presiding Judge Lee Jeong-mok) announced that it sentenced Mr. A (52), who was prosecuted for obstructing officials in the performance of their duties at an administrative welfare center, to a fine of 7 million won.

According to the court, Mr. A was charged with threatening employees by getting angry and saying, "I will not leave you alone. Be careful on the night road," when he was asked to submit documents at an administrative welfare center in Dong-gu, Daegu, around 9:50 a.m. on February 26.

Mr. A, who had been sentenced to eight months in prison for fraud and other charges and was released the day before, visited the administrative welfare center that day to apply for emergency livelihood support funds.

It is known that he committed this crime when an employee requested submission of documents such as a certificate of release.

The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "Considering the nature and method of the crime, the crime is serious, and it was committed during the recidivism period. However, taking into account the fact that he reflected on his wrongdoing, that no physical violence was used, that he has no prior convictions for similar crimes, and that his health condition is poor."
