[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Studio Santa Claus announced on the 30th that the movie Mogadishu, starring their actor Kim Yoon-seok, ranked first in reservation rate as of 10 a.m. on the 30th.
The movie Mogadishu depicts a life-or-death escape of people trapped due to civil war in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, in 1991. Actor Kim Yoon-seok portrayed Han Sin-seong, the South Korean ambassador to Somalia, who waged an all-out diplomatic battle to gain support from African countries before South Korea joined the UN, delivering a fully immersive performance.
Kim Yoon-seok provided a gripping sense of realism in the desperate escape for survival under extreme circumstances. In particular, he realistically portrayed the human conflicts and fleeting dilemmas of Ambassador Han Sin-seong, the head and patriarch of the embassy, while coloring the responsible leader’s image with flexible charisma, heightening the story’s tension and earning praise from audiences.
A representative of Studio Santa Claus said, “We are grateful that actor Kim Yoon-seok’s performance is once again loved by the public amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the intense summer heat.” They added, “We will strive to create a new cultural environment so that various cultural contents from our company, including Ice Road, which recorded a Golden Egg index of 95%, can continue to be loved by the public.”
The movie Mogadishu, starring Kim Yoon-seok, is now showing nationwide in theaters.
