[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] On the 30th, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases recorded 1,710. This is a slight increase from the previous day (1,674), continuing a 24-day streak of four-digit case counts.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, as of midnight on this day, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases increased by 1,710 from the previous day, totaling 196,806. There were 1,662 locally transmitted cases and 48 imported cases. Among the locally transmitted cases, 67% (1,114 cases) were concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area. Gyeonggi Province reported the highest number with 515 cases, followed by Seoul with 487 cases, and Incheon with 112 cases.
In non-metropolitan areas, 548 new cases were confirmed. By region, there were 98 in Gyeongnam, 84 in Daejeon, 77 in Busan, 61 in Daegu, 37 in Gyeongbuk, 36 in Chungnam, 34 in Chungbuk, 24 in Gwangju, 21 in Jeonbuk, 18 in Jeju, 17 each in Ulsan and Jeonnam, and 4 in Sejong.
There were 48 additional imported cases. Among these, 17 were detected during quarantine procedures, and 31 were confirmed in the community. Seventeen were Korean nationals, and 31 were foreigners.
The total number of tests conducted in one day exceeded 130,000. At temporary screening clinics set up in the Seoul metropolitan area, 74,868 tests were conducted, confirming 385 cases. In non-metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 15,925 tests were performed, confirming 66 cases.
The cumulative death toll increased by 4 from the previous day, reaching 2,089, and the number of critically ill patients rose by 14 to 299.
Meanwhile, according to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, 346,234 people received their first vaccine dose on this day. The cumulative number of first-dose recipients reached 18,729,701, with a vaccination rate of 36.5%. The number of fully vaccinated individuals increased by 39,069 from the previous day to 7,061,508. The vaccination rate among the population for fully vaccinated individuals was recorded at 13.8%.
