South France’s 130-Year-Old Winery 'Arrogant Frog' Introduces 3 Varieties
Six More Including LGI’s 'Maison Francis Reserve' to Launch Mid-Next Month

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Homeplus announced on the 30th that it will newly release nine types of French wine, known as a traditional wine-producing region, on the 30th.

French wine is highly popular among wine enthusiasts as one of the best wines, but its generally high price made it difficult for customers to easily access. In response, Homeplus is introducing nine high-quality French wines to the domestic market this summer at affordable prices.

Homeplus plans to launch all nine newly introduced French wines this summer at prices ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 KRW, reducing the price burden on customers and aiming to diversify the buyer base.

The products available nationwide from the 30th include three representative products from the historic South French winery 'Arrogant Frog,' which has been producing wine for about 130 years: ▲Arrogant Frog Reserve (750ml, 22,900 KRW) ▲Elegant Frog Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml, 21,900 KRW) ▲Elegant Frog Viognier (750ml, 21,900 KRW).

The 'Arrogant Frog' winery is a leading South French winery that has been making wine since 1892 in the Herault Valley of the Languedoc region, near the Mediterranean. Last year, it was selected as the '2020 European Winery of the Year' by the American wine magazine 'Wine Enthusiast.'

The 'Arrogant Frog Reserve' introduced by Homeplus is a premium wine blending three representative grape varieties of southern France (Grenache, Syrah, Mourv?dre), symbolizing the southern French red blend.

The 'Elegant Frog Cabernet Sauvignon' and 'Elegant Frog Viognier' are considered daily wine lineups characterized by rich fruit aromas, high acidity, and complex flavors.

In addition to these products, Homeplus plans to strengthen its French wine lineup by launching six more French wines around mid-next month.

They will introduce four reserve-level wines ('Carignan,' 'Malbec,' 'Shiraz,' 'Sauvignon Blanc') from the LGI winery, a representative French wine producer. LGI winery was selected as the best producer of French still wines (non-sparkling wines) at the 2019 'Berliner Wine Trophy.' The 'Berliner Wine Trophy' is Germany’s largest wine tasting competition evaluating wines from wineries worldwide every year.

They also plan to release two reserve-level old vine wines aged over 70 years for wine enthusiasts, called 'Le Epopy Belle.' 'Le Epopy Belle' is also produced by LGI winery, blending Grenache and Syrah varieties, boasting an elegant yet rich and concentrated premium old vine series.

So Byung-nam, buyer of the alcoholic beverages team at Homeplus, said, "Homeplus is now able to offer high-quality French wines at affordable prices," adding, "Since the Languedoc region is where the history of French wine began, its quality is excellent and cost-effective, which will satisfy consumers."
