[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Blue House announced on the 29th that it held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office, in the afternoon to discuss strengthening consultations with related countries for the resumption of North Korea-U.S. dialogue.
At the meeting, as part of follow-up measures after the South Korea-U.S. summit, Lee Ho-seung, Chief of Policy Office, Lim Hye-sook, Minister of Science and ICT, and Park Soo-kyung, Science and Technology Advisor, attended to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in advanced science and technology.
The attendees reviewed the current status of South Korea-U.S. technological cooperation, including ▲space ▲emerging technologies such as bio, 6G, Open-RAN, and quantum technology ▲and expanded personnel exchanges in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
They also discussed close cooperation with the United States and the international community for the development and acquisition of advanced technologies, inter-ministerial cooperation plans, and government-wide support measures.
They checked the implementation status of the restoration of inter-Korean communication lines and agreed to manage the situation on the Korean Peninsula stably while promoting early trust recovery and progress in relations, as well as to strengthen consultations with related countries for the early resumption of North Korea-U.S. dialogue.
They also decided to continue cooperation with related countries to overcome the domestic COVID-19 situation and to devise protective measures for Korean nationals in overseas high-risk areas.
