On-site Inspection and Encouragement of Officials at Jungnang-gu COVID-19 Vaccination Center and Dongdaemun-gu Homeless Shelter... Chairman Kim In-ho: "Thanks to Officials Working Hard Amid the Fourth Wave and Heatwave... We Will Seek Various Measures to Overcome Difficulties at Each Site"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the morning of the 29th, Kim In-ho, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, visited the Jungnang-gu COVID-19 Vaccination Center and the Dongdaemun-gu Homeless Shelter to encourage medical staff and related personnel who are struggling due to the recent surge in confirmed cases and the heatwave.
First, Chairman Kim visited the Jungnang-gu Vaccination Center to directly observe the difficulties faced by medical staff who are always working on the front lines of COVID-19 prevention despite the intense heat, and listened to their vivid voices from the field. <Photo above>
After receiving an explanation about the status of the vaccination center from Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, he inspected key facilities such as the waiting room and testing room, delivering encouragement to the medical staff and administrative personnel.
He also expressed his gratitude to the citizens who visited to receive the COVID-19 vaccine despite the heatwave.
Next, Chairman Kim visited the Ganaan Shelter in Dongdaemun-gu to check on the status of vulnerable groups amid the ongoing heatwave. <Photo below>
He received an explanation about the shelter’s operation from Kim Jeong-jae, Director of the Ganaan Shelter, and inspected key facilities such as the dining hall and counseling room. He also urged strict compliance with quarantine rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Ganaan Shelter, a homeless protection facility established in 1998, provides comprehensive support including protection, self-sufficiency, and housing for the homeless, currently supporting 91 homeless individuals.
Chairman Kim In-ho said, “I deeply thank the medical staff who are still working hard during the 4th wave and the homeless shelter staff who are striving to protect vulnerable groups amid the severe heatwave. We are going through a tougher summer than any other year, and the Seoul Metropolitan Council will also seek various measures to provide a better environment in many livelihood sites.”
Meanwhile, the on-site visit was attended by Lee Young-sil, Chair of the Health and Welfare Committee, and Cho Sang-ho, Democratic Party representative council member.
