Chung-Ang University Graduate School of Startup Management Climate Economics Department, Special Admission for New Students Recruitment

The Graduate School of Startup Management at Chung-Ang University is recruiting new students for the special admission track in the Department of Climate Economics for the second half of 2021.

Chung-Ang University, which established the Department of Climate Economics for the first time in Korea in 2009, is known as a representative gateway for approaching various issues such as climate change and fine dust policies. In addition to academic approaches, students can gain opportunities for corporate consulting and government policy planning through the Graduate School of Startup Management at Chung-Ang University.

Students completing this program study research techniques such as analyzing the causes of fine dust generation, managing emission sources, and modeling, as well as establishing measures to reduce fine dust, enabling them to grow into experts equipped with capabilities ready for immediate deployment in public and private sectors.

Currently, specialized graduate schools for fine dust exist only at three universities nationwide: Chung-Ang University, Hanseo University, and Pukyong National University. In particular, Chung-Ang University is attracting attention as the only specialized graduate school for fine dust in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The Department of Climate Economics at the Graduate School of Startup Management, Chung-Ang University, was established to cultivate professionals in response to the increasing need to address rapidly changing environmental issues. It operates a specialized educational program based on an agreement with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. The agreement signed in 2020 with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute provides 600 million KRW per university over three years starting from June of the same year.

With such support in place, there are abundant scholarship benefits for new students admitted through the special admission track. Based on support from government agencies recognizing the need to cultivate experts, a 100% fine dust specialization scholarship is provided. For employed students, 50% of the amount is granted. In addition, numerous internal and external scholarships are available, including entrance merit scholarships, academic excellence scholarships, teaching assistant scholarships, and research project participation scholarships.

Since the goal is immediate field deployment, many opportunities related to practical fieldwork are also provided. Students can participate in internships and industry-academia cooperation programs at leading domestic companies, as well as field training. Employment support is actively provided after completing the Department of Climate Economics at the Graduate School of Startup Management, Chung-Ang University.

To safely develop skills amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the program pays close attention to operational methods, including conducting untact video lectures. Education related to environment and climate change is provided, covering atmospheric data analysis, research methodologies, theories related to air pollution, and policy formulation and analysis.

Meanwhile, new students for the special admission track of the Department of Climate Economics at the Graduate School of Startup Management, Chung-Ang University, will be finally selected through a first-round document screening and a second-round interview. Inquiries can be made to the graduate school.
