[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Yoon Hyun-ji (Ansan City Hall), a member of the Korean women's judo team in the 78kg category, advanced to the semifinals.

On the 29th, at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Yoon Hyun-ji won against Fischa Stein Huyse (Netherlands) by penalty victory after a golden score (overtime) battle in the quarterfinals of the women's judo 78kg category at the Tokyo Olympics, advancing to the semifinals.

Having secured ippon victories by adding two waza-ari scores in the previous two matches to reach the quarterfinals, Yoon Hyun-ji now guarantees at least a silver medal if she wins just one more match in the semifinals.

Yoon Hyun-ji took an aggressive approach from the start of the match. Stein Huyse received two shidos, while Yoon received one. The match was undecided after the regular 4 minutes, leading to overtime.

In overtime, Yoon Hyun-ji actively controlled the match. Stein Huyse, who mainly played defensively, eventually received one more shido, resulting in Yoon winning by penalty.

The semifinals and finals will be held later that afternoon at the same venue.
