[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) announced on the 29th that it has secured a special grant of 20 million won after being selected for the "Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This contest project selects and supports excellent cities and counties through a public contest procedure targeting local governments wishing to introduce excellent innovation cases (34 cases) that can be expanded nationwide.
The excellent innovation case category of the project selected by the city is "Creating One-Pyeong Gardens that Bloom Laughter in the City Center and Strengthen the Local Community." The city plans to introduce this excellent case according to local characteristics by targeting the Yocheon riverside, a representative resting area for citizens, through the "Yocheon Garden School with Village Planning Group" project.
Through this project, the city plans to revitalize community culture by fostering Yocheon as a resting and cultural space together with citizens through collaboration between communities (village community, garden community, education community) and local artists.
A city official said, "By involving citizens in cultivating the Yocheon riverside, a beloved walking trail, it will serve as an opportunity to spread community culture," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the process and results of the project, carried out through collaboration among each community, lead to small happiness for citizens and become an excellent case."
