[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Duty Free announced on the 29th that it has been selected as an excellent labor-management culture company for two consecutive years in recognition of its efforts to create a horizontal corporate culture based on trust between labor and management.

On the 28th, Lotte Duty Free Jeju, a local subsidiary of Lotte Duty Free in the Jeju region, was selected as an 'Excellent Labor-Management Culture Company of 2021' hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This is the second time following last year's selection of Lotte Duty Free Busan subsidiary.

The Excellent Labor-Management Culture Company certification is awarded to companies that create a labor-management culture of coexistence and cooperation and exemplary practice of social responsibility. This year, a total of 106 companies applied, and after the first round of document screening and the second round of presentation screening, 37 companies were finally certified as excellent labor-management culture companies. Among them, 12 are large corporations, and Lotte Duty Free Jeju is the only one in the duty-free industry. Selected companies receive benefits such as additional points in corporate credit evaluations for three years and administrative support from the government.

Lotte Duty Free explained that Jeju subsidiary received favorable evaluations for creating a corporate culture where smooth communication between labor and management is possible based on various programs such as labor-management councils, workshops, and community volunteer activities, and for establishing a stable working environment by maintaining a 100% regular employee ratio since 2020. In particular, the turnover rate has been 0% for three years, indicating high employee satisfaction.

To establish a horizontal corporate culture, Lotte Duty Free operates a unified honorific system where all employees are addressed as 'nim,' and runs various corporate culture innovation systems such as the 'Junior Board,' composed of employees in their 20s and 30s to convey frontline voices directly to management, and the 'Change Agent,' a dedicated corporate culture organization.

To ensure employment stability and long-term service for female talent, in addition to legal systems, Lotte Duty Free provides 10 months of unpaid prenatal leave, 1 year of extended parental leave, and 1 year of childcare leave for children entering elementary school, guaranteeing up to 49 months of leave. For employees requiring infertility treatment, up to 12 months of infertility leave is supported, and male workers are encouraged to take at least one month of parental leave mandatorily.

Park Chang-young, Head of Management Support Division at Lotte Duty Free, said, "Based on the personnel philosophy that 'employee happiness is the company's competitiveness,' Lotte Duty Free will continue various activities to create an advanced corporate culture."
