83 Projects of Korean New Deal + Creative Administration Underway, 74 Completed or Progressing Normally... District Mayor Seonghyun Growth Pledges to Accelerate Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, has reported that the ‘2021 Creative New Deal’ initiative, which he has been focusing on, is progressing smoothly.
The Creative New Deal is a concept combining the Moon Jae-in administration’s national project ‘Korean New Deal’ with the district’s existing ‘creative administration.’ This year, the district is carrying out a total of 83 projects (45 digital, 12 green, 3 safety net reinforcement, 23 creative) under the Creative New Deal.
The total project budget amounts to 6.3 billion KRW.
Key projects include ▲operation of the district promotional robot ‘Yongbot’ ▲establishment of a contactless parking system at the Comprehensive Administrative Town ▲promotion of digital customized self-learning for integrity ▲digital competency enhancement education for all residents ▲construction of a big data integrated platform ▲development of the Yongsan Smart Care app ▲creation of a smart free zone at the Dream Tree Comprehensive Town ▲supply of eco-friendly EM fermented liquid ▲construction of an urban information integrated viewing system ▲green remodeling of park management offices ▲installation of smart shade shelters to prepare for heatwaves ▲and establishment of a smart sewage monitoring system.
Eighteen projects (22%), including the operation of the contactless parking system at the Comprehensive Administrative Town, have already been completed. Fifty-six projects (67%), such as the promotion of digital customized self-learning for integrity, are currently underway. Nine projects (11%), including the installation of a smart elevator guidance system at the Comprehensive Administrative Town, are planned to be implemented at an appropriate time in the future.
A district official stated, “Projects such as the installation of smart shade shelters to prepare for heatwaves and the supply of eco-friendly EM fermented liquid have received positive responses from residents,” adding, “We have also recently secured additional funding by being selected for government New Deal public projects such as the ‘Public Data Enterprise Matching Support Project’ and the ‘Smart Pilot Store Public Project.’”
To ensure smooth project implementation, the district reorganized its structure earlier this year. The previous structure of 2 deputy directors, 6 bureaus, 31 divisions, and 137 teams was expanded and reorganized into 2 deputy directors, 6 bureaus, 32 divisions, and 140 teams.
Notably, the newly established ‘Smart Information Division’ attracted attention.
The Smart Information Division consists of five teams: Smart City, Smart Projects, IT Operations, Information and Communications, and Smart Control. It is focusing administrative efforts on establishing a five-year smart city plan from 2022 to 2026 and building the district’s big data integrated platform.
Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “In addition to the Smart Information Division, all departments (and dong offices) of the district office are contributing to the Creative New Deal projects,” and added, “We will accelerate these projects so that residents can truly feel the transformation into a smart city.”
