Turning International Students into Global Youth Leaders Promoting Korea International Youth Leader Exchange Support Project Results Presentation held at Dongseo University.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Dongseo University has launched a project to exchange and support youth leaders who will compete on the international stage.

Earlier this year, Dongseo University was selected as an operating institution for the ‘2021 International Youth Leader Exchange Support Project’ organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Korea Youth Activity Promotion Agency.

The university announced on the 28th that despite the contraction of various international programs due to COVID-19, it operated a three-week program and recently held a project presentation and completion ceremony.

The International Youth Leader Exchange Support Project is designed to strengthen global competencies by supporting exchange activities among multinational university students and to promote friendship between countries by enhancing the understanding of Korean culture, history, and industry among international students studying in Korea.

Dongseo University conducted the project under the theme “Busan, the Hub of Asia, Designing Busan.”

Due to COVID-19, this year the project group activities were composed of the minimum number of four members per team, with a total of 14 teams conducting small-scale exploration activities under the project keywords: “Design and Creative Thinking Learning,” “Coexistence and Development through Community Connection,” and “Storytelling through Busan Films.”

At the presentation event, the topic “Innovative Contribution Methods to Busan City through Design” won the grand prize.

The excellence awards went to “Development of Jeonpo Cafe Street” and “Photography and Video Shooting around Busan,” while the encouragement awards were given to “Selecting Video Themes and Scriptwriting & Understanding the Film Industry,” “Finding Films and Related Locations Set in Busan and Creating Guidelines,” and “Promoting Gadeokdo.”

The grand prize carried a cash award of 600,000 KRW, the excellence awards 400,000 KRW, and the encouragement awards 200,000 KRW.

Han Kyung-ho, Director of the International Office at Dongseo University and judge of the competition, encouraged the students, saying, “I am proud of the students who passionately participated in the group projects despite the difficult situation of not being able to meet face-to-face, producing excellent project results through collaboration and communication.”

Dongseo University was also selected as the final excellent program for this project in 2019 and received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award.
