[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jinseop) announced on the 28th that it has secured a special grant of 20 million KRW after being selected in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s “2021 Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project” contest.
The “Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project” is a program to spread excellent projects (34 cases in 5 fields) selected through various competitions and evaluations by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to other local governments.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety selects and supports excellent cities and counties among local governments that intend to adopt the selected excellent cases.
The city discovered and applied with the “Community One-Pyeong Garden” project, one of the excellent cases from other local governments, and was finally selected, securing a special grant of 20 million KRW.
The “Community One-Pyeong Garden” project is a cultural and environmental creation project that utilizes idle urban land to create village community gardens used as places for agricultural crop cultivation experience activities.
The city plans to revitalize the urban area by additionally creating 14 family-unit community one-pyeong gardens in leftover urban spaces.
In particular, through local resident leadership, the city plans to select areas of illegal dumping and plant fine dust purifying plants and perennial plants to transform them into green spaces and resting areas.
A city official said, “Through this project, residents will be able to feel the small happiness that green spaces in daily life provide,” and added, “We will continue to apply excellent cases from other local governments to our city to enrich the lives of our citizens.”
