On the 28th, Pohang City's 'Jangryang Ainuri Toy Library,' which opened last March, has received positive responses from residents in the Buk-gu area, who previously had limited access and could not frequently use toy libraries.
Located on the 2nd floor of the Jangryang-dong Administrative Welfare Center, this toy library has a total area of 95.04㎡ and includes a toy rental room, return room, sterilization room, and nursing room. It houses a total of 615 toys, including 611 customized toys tailored to various physical sensory developments of infants and toddlers, and 4 sets of dolsang rental toys for first birthday celebrations.
Currently, there are three public toy libraries operated by Pohang City: ▲ Batmeori Ainuri (Nam-gu Sangdae-dong) ▲ Ocheon Ainuri (Nam-gu Ocheon-eup) ▲ Jangryang Ainuri (Buk-gu Jangryang-dong). An additional location is planned to be established in 2022 in Heunghae-eup, Buk-gu.
Any household with infants under 60 months of age or daycare centers (institutions) registered in Pohang City can easily use the toy library by simply signing up as a member. Individual members pay an annual fee of 10,000 KRW and can rent up to 2 toys at a time (1 large and 1 small, or 2 small) for a maximum of 21 days. The annual fee is waived for basic livelihood security recipients, single-parent families, and families with multiple children.
Lee Seunghun, Director of the Women and Family Division, stated, "We are pleased that the toy library helps reduce the economic burden on parents who need to purchase expensive toys according to developmental stages, even if only a little, and we will continue to strive to make Pohang a city that is good for raising children."
